PRECIOUS METALS

If possible which of the metals would be the first to rust?
My science fair is coming up and I’ve got the materials I just want some reassurance on my work just something to make me feel as if I did it right.

The metals will be put in salt water and water.
room temperature

Steel will be the first to rust followed by zinc. Silver, aluminum and copper will corrode.

pretty sure all of them will

zinc wont rust, its used for galvanizing which is to prevent rust and corrosion.. copper turns green when it rusts, and turns to copper oxide, steel is iron and carbon, and iron rusts (its only 2% carbon) so steel will rust. aluminum is very resistant to corrosion and needs other elements besides oxygen to have a oxidation state so that won’t rust.

Technically, rusting is the formation of oxide. All of them EXCEPT silver would form rust. Silver combines with sulfur, not with oxygen in the air.
Aluminum would be the first one to rust.

you should specify the environment.. based on the type of fluid or atmosphere, temperature different metals will behave in different way. If you are talking of metals exposed to a "normal" atmosphere then the first will be Steel, all the other metals are protected by a superficial layer of oxide that protect them from further corrosion.
