I see several advertised on TV. Are they the best way to convert unwanted or broken jewelry into cash, or would a person be better off going to a local business? I recognize the price is tied to the current price of whatever the precious metal is, but what method would give the biggest cut of that price to the owner?
Most online gold buyers REFUSE to tell you what they pay per gram for gold. A few will only tell you what they pay for amounts over 10 ounces! 10 ounces is a LOT of gold!
I did a lot of research and found the Silver and Gold Exchange. Not only do they pay much more than anyone else I could find… online or locally, but they also post the prices they pay for every form of gold and silver on their website via a live chart at http://SilverAndGoldExchange.com
Hope this helps.
Sparked my curiosity.
Silver and Gold are traditionally known as precious metals. They are soft and easy to craft with, and do not oxidize like iron and copper. Bronze was used before gold/silver, but with bronze being common, it wasn’t seen as anything spectacular.

40% Silver Bags present valuable investment oppurtunites for those who wish to invest in precious metals. 40% Silver Bags are simply bags that contain silver coins minted after 1964. Prior to 1964, coins in the United States comprised of 90% silver. From 1965-1971, the United States started minting coins with a silver content of only 40%. After 1971, coins stopped having any precious metal content. Popularly known as junk bags, these bags can prove to be very useful investments at times. 40% Silver Bags usually contain 50 cent coins, and other different coins that were minted between 1965 and 1971. Obviously, the rarer the coin, the higher the selling price. These bags are basically bought for their content. The silver content of the coins in these bags can prove to be invaluable during times of economic hardship. The value of precious metals in general rises with a fall in the value of currency. Holding on to precious metal investments can help reduce losses during dodgy market conditions. These bags are usually bought at a price lower than the average price of silver. You can now easily buy 40% Silver Bags of different face values. Bags of a face value of 1000 dollars, 500 dollars, 100 dollars and even 50 dollars can now be purchased. It is also possible to buy silver coin rolls. The advantage of investing in such bags is that it brings diversity to your investment portfolio. These silver bags may rise in value when the market is showing a downward trend. Hence, they can help even out your losses during recession periods. Also, these coins can be used as hard currency during dismal times. You will also be able to capitalize on any rise in the price of silver. Do not be misled by the term junk bags. These bags are affordable investments that often turn out to be very profitable. In fact, if you are lucky you may come across a rare coin worth oodles of money. To top it all off, collecting such bags can actually be interesting and fun. So, it is advisable
