I see several advertised on TV. Are they the best way to convert unwanted or broken jewelry into cash, or would a person be better off going to a local business? I recognize the price is tied to the current price of whatever the precious metal is, but what method would give the biggest cut of that price to the owner?

Steel will be the first to rust followed by zinc. Silver, aluminum and copper will corrode.
